History ;

James-Chauncy is the fourth son of the Councillor Leda of Razen. He's quite a bit younger than his three elder brothers, but takes pride in the fact that his younger sister (who is, as of current, three) is delightfully smaller than him. James, (who really would prefer being addressed by his full name, as it's a lot more proper) is as of current, eleven. He took an interest in fencing when he was nine, and despite what his brothers say (they sleep with boys), and what the imbeciles down the road insist (their mothers are all men), he'd like to think he's quite (only quite) good for a beginner.

When not practicing, he can be found sulking over meaningless things in his room, or burying himself in several large piles of books (he is considering constructing a city with them-- perhaps a fortress, if the former is not possible) and reading things he shouldn't be reading. Most of the things he shouldn't be reading were ~~stolen~~ borrowed from his brothers whilst they were sleeping.

James-Chauncy finds his tutors inexplicably dull and sadly, extremely unintelligent for adults. The most useful things he's learnt from them is Old Atsirian, which now he has a decent grasp on (but misspells quite often.) He finds it most irritating that they insist on reminding him how to tie up his shoelaces every lesson, despite his shoes not having any laces to speak of.

He takes notes of what he reads very often, and his journal is filled with random facts, and occasionally words he doesn't understand. Of course, his tutors try to tell him that his silly little book is useless, and he should focus more on how important the Core of the Bard is in relation to the Pot and Kettle, and other useless things such as those. But when unfamiliar handwriting starts to appear in his journal, though surprised, James is extremely smug, and tempted to show his tutors. Useless, silly little book indeed!

Personality ;

James ... doesn't get along with people very well. He has too many expectations of what sort of person they ought to be, and if they don't meet his standards, he doesn't bother with them anymore. He believes first impressions make everything, and tends to be unreasonable when people attempt to correct him. Aside from his mother, whom he has the deepest respect for. He finds his father -- who doesn't appear to really do anything-- spineless and moronic.

James-Chauncy does not appreciate having his name shortened (but he supposes 'James' is alright), and finds most of his 'nicknames' insults. 'Jamie,''Jamesie,''Jimbo' and 'Jimmy' are most definately not dignified names, after all.

He maintains a polite composure towards those who are (surprisingly) better than him, or his elders (who aren't always better than him.) He doesn't respect idiots, or those who made bad choices, and strongly looks down upon poor people and servants (Hmph! Miserable peons.) James doesn't tend to show affection very much, even towards his mother. But he holds a soft spot for his sister, whom he insists he's responsible for, what with his elder brothers being stupid, his mother being extremely busy and his father being completely useless.

James is often taunted by other children (street rats, no less!) and is most displeased by it. Unfortunately, the best insults he can come up with (and the only few he knows), are 'Your mother is a man' and 'You bum boys up the butt.'

Appearance ;

James-Chauncy has a serious face, and in a few years, some would call it 'brooding.' But right now, all it could be called is 'pouting.' He has brown hair, and brown eyes (which he finds very dull indeed), and tends to scowl a lot. He's short, even for age eleven, and would rather it wasn't stated so often as it is. ('Pipsqueak' is not a suitable, nor sensible nickname for a younger sibling...)
