I was going to go see Dairanne tomorrow, and see if she's checked her journal because she hasn't written. But now I can't. Mother grounded me and it's not fair! I didn't do anything wrong, and now I can't leave the house all weekend except with her explicit permission and only with an escort. She won't even let me do anything fun. She took all my books away, except for the ones I was actually studying from and those are boring.
Oh! And my brothers were talking at dinner tonight about there being a murder in the city! Has anyone heard about this? My mother made them stop talking because we were having dinner and it wasn't appropriate, but now that dinner's over they won't tell me anything. They said everyone was talking about it too. Normally I'd go to the market and find out what everyone is saying, but I can't do that now either. Being grounded is the worst.
